Giorgi Guliashvili

Giorgi Guliashvili has more than 20 years of professional experience in the fields of environmental protection and waste management. He is an environmental and waste management expert whose professional practice encompasses environmental management, waste management, environmental monitoring and auditing, as well as environmental consulting. His professional expertise is grounded in an in-depth knowledge of Georgian environmental legislation and international environmental standards and requirements.

Since 2021, Giorgi Guliashvili has been serving as the Head of the โ€œWasteLessโ€ - Extended Producer Responsibility Association of Georgia. Under his leadership, the organization has been developing collection systems for specific waste streams across Georgia, fostering cooperation with government institutions, businesses, international and professional organizations, and organizing awareness-raising campaigns in the field of waste management.

From 2019 to 2024, Giorgi served as Director and Managing Partner of SDSC, a sustainable development consulting company, where he led the environmental, social, health, and occupational safety functions.

From 2017 to 2019, he served as Head of the Environmental and Public Relations Group for BPโ€™s Bakuโ€“Supsa Pipeline Sectional Replacement Project. Prior to this, from 2012 to 2017, he was Executive Director of the waste management company โ€œSanitaryโ€, where he managed waste management, disposal and recycling operations, including the management of hazardous waste.

His broader professional experience includes environmental, occupational health and safety and quality management for infrastructure and construction projects implemented by BP and other organizations, development and implementation of environmental management systems and monitoring, auditing and inspection of compliance with environmental legislation and project requirements.

Giorgi has also worked on a number of international projects, where his responsibilities included the development and implementation of environmental management systems, plans and procedures, environmental monitoring, auditing and inspections, provision of environmental consulting services and the organization and delivery of professional training.

Giorgi holds a Masterโ€™s degree in Environmental Management and Policy from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) and a degree in Law from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

He is fluent in Georgian, English and Russian.
